High Line Park

Nighttime Adventures in NYC

There’s no better way to spend a summer evening than in New York City. After all, it is the city that never sleeps! We have a few suggestions to help make your evening adventure one to remember!

The High Line

The High Line is one of the most unique parks in New York. It was built on an abandoned elevated railroad track and opened in 2009 as a hybrid public space for nature, art, and design.

Some highlights of the park include:

  1. The Northern Spur Preserve, which is a path that crosses to 10th Avenue filled with a plant lovers dream. It’s lined with crab apples, asters, sedges, goldenrods, and alumroot.
  2. Chelsea Thicket, which is another pathway featuring original steel train tracks.
  3. Philip A. And Lisa Maria Falcone Flyover, which sits 8 feet above the High Line and nestles you amongst the treetops.
  4. The Highline also offers summer evening events, including their outdoor video art program at 14th St.

In the summer the High Line is open until 11PM. So wander to your heart’s content.

Coney Island

Hop on the F train and take it to the Coney Island stop! The boardwalk at night is enchanting and playful. Have a hot dog (or two), and just enjoy everything you see because there’s always something exciting happening on the boardwalk. Every Friday during the summer they host a free fireworks show that lights up the entire Coney Island Skyline.

Queens Night Market

This is a family-friendly outdoor market that happens every Saturday from 5pm-midnight. It features up to 100 vendors selling food and merchandise. If you’re lucky you can catch small performances celebrating the cultural diversity of Queens.
