Lower Manhattan is where New York City as we know it was formed. First settled by the Dutch in the 17th century, Manhattan’s humble beginnings started where the Financial District is now located. Our heliport, where we launch our New York City Helicopter Tours from, are located in lower Manhattan, the following list is merely a snapshot of all the incredible sites to catch while you’re in town, but we hope they’ll help plan your trip, or if you’re a NYC resident, see if you’ve visited these sites.
Brooklyn Bridge. Take the A or C train to High Street in Brooklyn, here is where you can get on the Brooklyn Bridge pedestrian track to walk back over to Manhattan. During your approximately 30-minute walk, you will have the chance to take in incredible views of Manhattan.
City Hall. The offices of the mayor and city council reside in City Hall. An elegant, elegant Georgian and French Renaissance-style marble building built in 1803, City Hall is a treasure of Manhattan. Don’t miss the gardens around the square as well.
Woolworth Building. An opulent Gothic structure, complete with gargoyles, when the building opened in 1913 it was then the world’s tallest building. Today, it is one of the 100 tallest buildings in the United States.
St. Paul’s Chapel. The oldest surviving church building in Manhattan, George Washington himself worshiped here in the 18th century during the months when New York City was the capital of the United States.
Battery Park. A refuge amongst a concrete landscape, Battery Park is a place where you can enjoy the breezes from New York Harbor, take in a view of the Statue of Liberty, and possibly even catch the ferry to Staten Island.
