The most important rule when taking a helicopter tour of Manhattan is to follow instructions from your pilot. Helicopter pilots have extensive training and experience that has equipped them to fly safely. Your pilot will give you instructions on safety and emergency procedures before your flight begins. Pay attention and follow all directions. If a problem occurs during the flight, your pilot will instruct you on what action to take or advise you to remain in your seat. Follow any safety-related signs you may see.
Dress appropriately for your flight. Wear long pants and a light jacket. Do not wear sunglasses, a hat, sandals, flip flops, necklaces, or other loose jewelry or items. Keep long hair pulled back.
You are limited in the types of items you may take on board. Heavy luggage is prohibited, as are loose objects such as bags, cell phones, and keys.
Familiarize yourself with the location of a first aid kit and personal flotation device prior to take-off. Be sure you know how to use them, if necessary.
Sit in the seat assigned by your pilot. Weight must be evenly distributed to maintain proper balance of the helicopter during flight. If weight is not evenly distributed, it can make it more difficult for the pilot to fly the helicopter.
Keep your seatbelt fastened for the entire duration of your tour. Do not open the doors or leave the helicopter until your pilot instructs you to do so. Use caution when exiting the helicopter.
